Meet Our Eyecare Team

Dr. Heidi Q.T. Pham-Murphy graduated from the University of Missouri in 2000 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. She practices full scope optometry with special interest in pediatrics, geriatrics, dry eye disease and blue light impacts on visual performance and health. Dr. Pham-Murphy has been with Eye Designs Optometry since August, 2000. Dr. Pham-Murphy is a professional speaker on Blue Light, Dry Eyes as well as lens designs to meet visual function.  Her ideas and expert advice have been featured in industry magazines (Vision Monday, Eyecare Business) as well as on Fox 40, Fox 12, Chanel 10, Women’s World Magazine, First for Women Magazine.

Dr. Thomas H. Murphy graduated from UC Berkeley in 1978 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Murphy has been in private practice optometry in the Sacramento area since 1978. During the last 40 years he has practiced optometry with one philosophy, to provide the highest quality eye care utilizing the latest in ophthalmic equipment and technique, while providing top quality eye wear to his patients in a very friendly and caring environment. He graduated from Highlands High School in 1971. After attending American River College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Dr. Murphy earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Optometry from the University of California Berkeley.

Dr. Larisa Johnson graduated from Marquette University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 1994. Optometry school brought her out to California and she graduated from UC Berkeley in 1998. After optometry school, Dr. Johnson completed a fellowship program in cornea and contact lenses at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. She joined us at Eye Designs Optometry after practicing in Humboldt County, CA for 8 years. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Sacramento Valley Optometric Association and a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. She has published articles on the topics of contact lens fitting and keratoconus. Dr. Johnson has been with Visions Optometry since 2009.

Dr. Emily T. Huynh completed her undergraduate studies at UC Davis and received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in the Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurology, Physiology and Behavior. She continued her studies in Chicago and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in May 2008 with a Doctorate in Optometry. Her externship experience includes a private practice in San Jose, California, and two Veterans Hospitals: the Westside Jesse Brown VA Hospital in Chicago, and Palo Alto VA Hospital in California. Dr. Huynh has been with Visions Optometry since 2009.
